BOOK SMART DAISY BATES

Our 8th grade class is named after Daisy Bates. Her full name is Daisy Lee May Bates. She is best known for being a American civil rights activist, publisher and writer who played a leading role in the little rock integration crisis of 1957. Daisy published a local black newspaper called the Arkansas State Press, which publicized violations of the supreme court's desegregation ruling. Daisy Bates was also very honored. Bu winning a American Book award, a Arkansas General Assembly Commendation award, and honorary doctor of law degree. As u can see our whole class should be proud to be named after Daisy bates, she was an educated person. But most of all she was a leader and that is what our class is based on.
